Aaron Keel died after a long illness. He was surrounded by family and friends. Mr. Keel was 72 years old. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, December 1st at 4 pm at
Berryhill Funeral Home.
Raised in the mill villages, Mr. Keel was a lifelong resident of Huntsville. He was a brick mason by trade, and his work can still be seen in houses and buildings throughout northern Alabama and southern Tennessee.
Mr. Keel was also an accomplished landscape painter who enjoyed singing, playing many instruments by ear, reading, and discussing politics. He taught his children to value art, music, poetry, and the freedoms this country gave them.
Preceded in death by his wife Shirley, Mr. Keel is survived by his sons: Wesley Keel and Steven Mason; his daughter, Kerry Putman; his son-in-law, Jackie Putman; and his daughter-in-law, Vicki Mason. He is also survived by his sisters: Ann Ballew, Jean Watson, and Gail Wright; his brothers: Everett Keel, Rayford Keel, and Wendell Smith; and many nieces and nephews.
