It is with great sorrow and sadness, but also great joy, that our mother, Mrs.Juell Moore Lanford, passed from this life to her heavenly home on August 21, 2023.

Mother was born on February 13, 1928. She was born during The Great Depression as the second oldest daughter of share cropper parents. She grew up knowing what hard work was from working in the cotton fields and all of the other work that had to be done on the farm. She married the love of her life and our dad, Clarence Lanford, on July 19,1946. Through their union, four children were born: Bobby, Judy, Jimmy, and Danny. They passed down their legacy of hard work down to their children. Mother was a member of Pleas Mount Baptist Church for the past 67 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Lee Lanford; son, Jimmy Lanford; grandson, Jeremy Lanford; nephew, Steven Gross, who they raised after the death of his mother and grandmother); parents, James O. Moore and Susie Moore; brothers, Raymond Arnold, Frank, and Billy Moore; sisters, Pat Gross, Arlene Carter, Judy Mullins, and Sue Boggs.

She is survived by her youngest brother, Venis Buck Moore (Evelyn); her children, Bobby Lanford (Pam), Judy Elwell (Rich), and Danny Lanford (Gayle); grandchildren, Carla Hardin, Melissa Smith, Brenda BeThune,  Alice Beasey, Richie Elwell, Chris Lanford, Courtney Wilbourn, Chelsea Knowles, Christa Barton and Twanica Mason; along with 24 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great children.

Visitation will be on Saturday, August 26, from 12:00pm-2:00pm at Berryhill Funeral Home. The service will follow at 2:00pm. Burial will take place at Pleas Mount Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Chris Lanford, Robert BeThune, George Atchley, Dustin Wilbourn, Eddie Henshaw, and Justin Adams.
