Ronnie Vern Shults, 77 of Huntsville, passed away on July 12, 2023, surrounded by his family.
The third of 5 children, Ron was born on June 12th, 1946 in Sevierville, TN, to parents Woodrow and Jewell Shults. As a teen, he moved in with his uncle and aunt, Lon and Beulah Sutton. They cared for him like a son for the remainder of his teenage years.
Ron went into the service at the age of 21. He served in the Navy on the Sea and Air Rescue team during the Vietnam war. He was devoted to serving his country. At the age of 31 he met the love of his life, Michelle Cooper and married her on May 12th, 1979. They lived in Texas and had 3 children; Candace (Salmond), Meghan (Clay), and Sutton Shults. Ron worked in swimming pool sales for 45 years. He loved his job and was always a hard-working man. After living in Texas for 20 years, he moved his family to Huntsville in 1999 and started working for Tara Manufacturing in 2002 where he retired in 2019.
Ron enjoyed sharing life with family and friends. He touched many souls. He was a very generous man and is known for his hospitality. He and Michelle hosted family dinners on most Sundays for more than 15 years. Ron loved being with his kids and grandkids more than anything.
Ron (Papa) leaves behind a loving family including his wife Michelle of 44 years; his daughter Candace Salmond, her husband Kirk, and their four children Keelyn (18), Kiersten (16), Conner (13), and Katie (11); his daughter Meghan Clay, her husband Keith, and their three children, Avianna (12), Eli (10), and Haven (7); his son Sutton Shults, his wife Caitlin, and their three children Malachi (6), and twins Abigail and Ezekiel (3).
Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 16, 2023 at 2:00 PM, followed by a Celebration of Life Memorial at 3:00 pm at Summit Crossing Community Church in Huntsville, AL.
