December 16, 1932 – January 14, 2024
On the morning of January 14, 2024, Verna Lee Clark of Huntsville, AL passed away from complications of Alzheimer's. She was 91.
Verna Lee was the oldest daughter of Vernon and Margaret Becker of Middletown, KY. As a child, she raised calves and continued this hobby throughout her lifetime. She settled in Huntsville in 1960 and received a degree in sociology from UAH. Her career spanned 24 years as Director of The Retired Senior Volunteer Program at the Huntsville-Madison County Senior Center. She gave generously of her time, volunteering for various local organizations.
She played the piano and organ, enjoyed travel, hiking with the Sierra Club, swimming, gardening and pulling thistle and privet from her cow pastures. Her favorite times were spent with her family and many other children who called her mom.
Verna Lee is survived by her children, Avy (Gaby)of Toney, AL, Bartie (Bob) of Fayetteville, TN, Debbie (David)of Huntsville, AL, Elisa (Patrick) of Landrum, SC, Faun (Barry) of Madison, AL, Gerald (Tina) of Madison, AL, Hans (Elizabeth) of Fayetteville, TN, 17 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Cheri and her love Bill Copeland.
Visitation will be held at Berryhill Funeral Home Saturday, January 20, 2024 from 9:00- 11:00 AM with a graveside service at Maple Hill Cemetery on Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at 11:00 A.M.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hope Place Shelter Program - CSNA, Heifer International and WLRH Public Radio.
