Agnes Jane Byrd Simmons, 78, of Hazel Green, AL, passed away Wednesday, July 31, 2024 at her residence. Known as "Miss Jane" by her husband, Pee Wee, she was born and raised in Big Cove, AL but had lived in Hazel Green for over 60 years.

Miss Jane is survived by her husband, Lawrence "Pee Wee" Simmons; son, William Derek (Deborah) Simmons; grandchildren, Dakota Brandon (Serenity) Simmons and Devon Taylor Simmons (Brenen Gibbs); great-grandchildren: Madeline Jane, Lorelei Reese, Rosalee Claire, and Kennedy Rain Simmons; sisters, Peggy Sue Knight, Phyllis Marie (Jerry) Schultz, and Nancy Kaye Martin; and brothers, Ronald Dale (Pam) Byrd and Kevin Alan (Ellen) Byrd.

She was a member of Park City Free Holiness Church and a member of the Holiness faith for 61 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter Lee and Bertie Lorene Byrd; sister, Rosie Lucille (James Earl) Cowan; brothers, J.W. (Mary Jo) Cowan, Alton Wayne Byrd, and Sammy Ellis (Sharon Nyoka) Byrd; and brothers-in-law, Bill Knight and Roger Martin.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 2nd from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at Berryhill Funeral Home. The funeral service will take place at 11:00 A.M. the following day, Saturday, August 3rd with Rev. Paul Stover and Rev. Rodney Underwood officiating. Burial will take place at Green Valley Cemetery in Big Cove.

Pallbearers will be Clinton Knight, David Cowan, Bradley Martin, Michael Simmons, Lee Schultz, and Shannon Byrd.

Honorary pallbearers will be Keith Cowan, Jeff Byrd, Jake Byrd, Aaron Knight, Billman Knight, Joey Schultz, Nicholas Martin, and Anthony Simmons.

Service will be livestreamed.
