Avis Yvonne Burns, 92, of Huntsville, passed away on Wednesday, October 15, 2025.

In Loving Memory of a Beautiful Life

She is now joyfully reunited in Heaven with her beloved husband of 63 years, John Wallace Burns, her brothers Larry Smith of Huntsville and Travis Smith of Gadsden, and her brother-in-law Hubert Alford of Hokes Bluff.

She leaves behind a family who adored her deeply, including her devoted sister Nelda Alford and sister-in-law Linda Smith. She was the cherished mother of Dave Burns and his wife of 47 years Diane Burns, Donna England and her husband Bill England, and Karen Burns.

Her love and influence extended to her four grandchildren Matt Burns and Kristen, Michelle Grant and Jerel, Justin McDonald and Tara, and Amy Koch and Bryan. Nothing made her happier than being surrounded by her nine great-grandchildren Hayden, Kierstin, Jacob, Bailey, Higgins, Carson, Judson, Luke, and Ryan, each one holding a special place in her heart. She also treasured her many nieces and nephews, loving them as her own.

She enjoyed a long and fulfilling career in accounting, working for Meadow Gold Dairies and Chambers Bottling Company, where she was known for her dedication, precision, and strong work ethic. She retired at the age of 65, leaving behind a legacy of professionalism and respect.

A faithful and longtime member of Wall Highway Baptist Church, she lived her life grounded in faith, family, and kindness. Her steady presence and unconditional love touched everyone who knew her.

Though she will be deeply missed, her warmth and grace will live on in the hearts of those who loved her most.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 18th, beginning at 11:00 AM at Huntsville Memory Gardens.  Rev. Dave Burns will be officiating.  Berryhill Funeral Home is assisting the family.
