IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Barbara Daniels
Wright
June 4, 1934 – July 22, 2025
Barbara Daniels Wright, born in Daphne, AL on June 4, 1934, and a resident of Huntsville since 1966, died at age 91 on July 22, 2025. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Annie Daniels, her husband Billy Glenn Wright, her grandson, Chad Chrisopher Hasty, and nine of her older siblings (Grace, Emma, Arwilda, Otis, James, Ted, Johnny, "Boots", and Carlos).
She is survived by her three children, Brenda Jones (Greg) of Huntsville, Randy Wright (Leslie) of Birmingham, and Roger Wright (Belinda) of Huntsville and her two older sisters, Mildred Runyun of Robertsdale, AL and Georgia Hellmich of Foley, AL. Barbara (aka, Nana) is also survived by eight grandchildren, Brittany, Daniel, Mitchell, Anne Scott, Kyle, Blakely, Trey, and Maggie and five great grandchildren, Evelyn, Harrison, Henry, Collins, and Walker.
Barbara graduated from Foley High School in 1952 and then went to a business college in Mobile. Her first job was in Mobile at Brookley Air Force Base. In her younger years, she played softball and even won a gymnastics/acrobatic contest with her best friend, Virginia.
Barbara met Bill at her brother's wedding in 1956, and they were married in September 1957. In 1959, she and Bill moved to Tuscaloosa, AL where she worked at Olan Mills while Bill went to school full time. Once they moved to Huntsville in 1966, she worked as a substitute teacher and later as a civil servant on Redston Arsenal in the procurement area. Barbara and Bill bought a home on Chapman Avenue in Huntsville and lived there for 50 years.
During her time in Huntsville, she was active in the Pilot Club, Sunshine Singers, and Jackson Way Baptist Church. She enjoyed line dancing at the Senior Center, square dancing, exercise classes, and long adventurous walks with her friend and neighbor, Margaret.
In 2019, Barbara and Bill moved into an assisted living facility at Regency Retirement Village; and in 2024, Barbara was moved to a higher care home under the wonderful kindness and patience of Cadian Maitland.
Barbara's legacy, however, was being known to her family and friends as an incredibly sweet lady, who was quick witted, fun to be around, and had an incredibly kind and loving nature.
