Benny Wayne Rushing, 78, of Huntsville, passed away on January 23, 2026, after a brief illness.

Benny was a devoted family man, a proud Army veteran, and a lifelong learner. He earned his Bachelor's Degree from the University of Tennessee at Martin and later received his Master's Degree from Alabama A&M University. He spent his professional career as an accountant with the U.S. Army, serving his country both in uniform and through his work.

Benny had a deep love for music of all kinds and could appreciate every genre. He was also an avid sports fan—there wasn't a sport he wouldn't watch on television. Above all else, he loved his family. Known for his generosity, kindness, and infectious laugh, Benny brought warmth and joy to those around him and leaves behind countless cherished memories.

He was preceded in death by his father, O.B. Rushing; his mother, Madelyn Rushing; his brothers, Earnest Rushing, Curtis Rushing, James Rushing, and Cecil Rushing ; and his son, Travis Rushing.

He is survived by his daughter, Melissa Gregg (Chuck Gregg); son, Matthew Rushing (Julia Rushing); brother, Floyd Rushing; and beloved grandchildren: Walker Rushing, Anna Kathryn Rushing, and Gabriel Rushing.

Benny will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
