Beth Ann Leighton, 62 was born on October 31, 1963. She passed away peacefully on August 28, 2026, at Windsor House Nursing Home in Huntsville, Alabama.

 Beth was a proud, long-time resident of Stratford, Connecticut, where she spent most of her life surrounded by a deeply loving family and lifelong friends, before moving to Alabama eight years ago with two of her children. Beth always believed her true purpose in life's journey was to be a mother, and she fulfilled that calling beautifully. In her first marriage to Chris Nunno, she was blessed with two amazing children. Later, she remarried Steven Leighton, welcoming another wonderful daughter. She lovingly embraced her role as a stepmother to three more children. She eventually earned her favorite title of all: "Memie" (Grandma). Beth wasn’t just a mother to her own; she was the kind of mom all her children’s friends called "Mom"— always welcoming them with open arms, a warm heart, and zero judgment. 

She was a fiercely strong, resilient woman whose doctors once marvelously remarked that she "defied the laws of physics." A baker by trade, Beth had a natural talent for her craft and made deep, lasting connections at every job, including her time working at Butson's in New Hampshire, Shaws and Panera Bread in Connecticut. Beyond her love for baking, Beth adored Halloween, drawing, art, making jewelry, and going on spontaneous adventures. Most of all, she treasured telling stories of the "crazy adventures" she shared with her lifelong friends as well as creating precious memories with her family.

 Everyone who knew Beth agreed on one thing: she was the kindest, sweetest woman you could ever meet. Although she passed at a young age, Beth was never alone. She left this world knowing she was supported and deeply loved by so many. On that quiet night, Beth was reunited with her mother, who guided her way to her husband and family, where they embraced once again with hugs, love, and happiness. As the saying goes: "There are some who bring a light so great to the world, that even after they are gone, their light remains." Her light will always shine through the stories told by those who loved her. 

Beth is survived by her children, Jessica Nunno (Daniel), Scott Nunno, and Alisha Marinko (Eric); stepchildren: Susan (Gary) Vincent, Shelley (Mark) Wright, and Tracey Leighton (Daniel); cherished grandchildren, Steven Marinko, Dakota, and Chiane, as well as the many children she loved and considered her grandchildren; brother, Kris Carpenter (Laura);  niece, Jenna Carpenter,Cindy Morrissette LaPointe.and nephews; Chris, Randy, and Shawn(Amanda) Leighton. 

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Steven Leighton; parents, Harold and Grace Carpenter and her brothers, Keith and Kenneth.

 Services and Memorial Plans

 Because Beth’s family and friends are all scattered across different states, plans for a video memorial are currently in the works. The family will provide updates as those arrangements come together. In accordance with her final wishes, Beth will be brought to the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, NH, to be placed in the columbarium wall alongside her husband.
