Betty Jane Anderson, 82, of Gurley, passed away Tuesday, January 26.

She was the epitome of the virtuous woman in Proverbs. Betty was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and servant of the Lord at New Salem Baptist Church for 47 years. She retired from the City of Huntsville, after several years of service.

Betty is survived by her children, Carol Shaneyfelt (Mike), Richard Anderson II (Stephanie), Ellie Wilbourn (Jim), and Marcus Anderson (Sarah); eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and her sister, Willa Dean Wells. She is preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Reverend Richard Anderson.

A funeral service will take place on Thursday, January 28 at 1 p.m. at New Salem Baptist Church.
