Calvalene Evans
Seely
October 7, 1935 – June 17, 2024
Calvalene Evans Seely, devoted wife to Col. (Ret.) Arthur Dean Seely, went to Heaven on Monday, June 17, 2024. She will be missed dearly by her husband, three children, seven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
Calvalene was born in Hackleburg, Alabama, on October 7, 1935. Her parents, Weyman W. Evans and Alma Powell Evans raised her to become a sweet, loving, Christian woman. She later met Art on a blind date, and God did the rest. Calvalene and Art got married at the Hackleburg Church of Christ on May 5, 1956. They spent the next 24 years traveling the word together, living abroad in Germany, France, and Okinawa before moving back to the states.
After retirement, they settled in Hamilton, Alabama, where they were proud members of The Hamilton Church of Christ for 40 years. In 2019, they joined Mayfair Church of Christ after relocating to Huntsville, Alabama, to be closer to family.
Calvalene was the epitome of elegance and grace, excelling in her role of being an Air Force Officer's wife. She served as President of the Officer's Wives Club and hosted countless charitable events. While she was proud to be an Officer's wife, her husband of 68 years, was equally proud of her. Theirs was a true love story.
She was a beloved mother to Arthur Dean Seely, Jr. (Debi), Sharon Seely Novo, and Kimberly Seely Butler, and sister to Freba Evans White. Calvalene was also blessed to share so many cherished memories with her seven grandchildren, Brandi (Jonathan) Williams, Amber (Dakota) Farrulla, Lauren Novo, Kristen (Nathan) Schettino, Kylie (Austin) Oys, Hunter Butler, and Alec Butler.
A memorial service for Calvalene was held at Mayfair Church of Christ, Huntsville, on Friday, June 21, 2024. Dr. Gary Bradley officiated. Saturday, June 22, 2024, family and friends met at The Cedar Tree Methodist Church and Cemetery in Hackleburg, Alabama where Calvalene was laid to rest.
In remembrance of Calvalene's life and love, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to The Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
