Carl Lee Fairchild
November 22, 1961 – September 13, 2026
Carl Lee Fairchild passed away on September 13, 2026, at the age of 64, surrounded by his family after a long and courageous battle with serious health challenges.
Carl was a man who believed in saying exactly what he thought. Straightforward, blunt, and never one to sugarcoat much of anything, those who knew him also knew that underneath his tough exterior was a heart of gold. He loved deeply, cared fiercely for the people in his life, and was the kind of man who would give someone the shirt off his back if they needed it.
Carl proudly served his country for 14 years in the United States Army, where his work included the Patriot missile system. He later continued building on that experience in his civilian career on the Arsenal, where he became a familiar and respected presence in his field.
His strength and determination remained defining qualities throughout his life. Carl faced more medical challenges than most people ever will, yet he continued fighting for the life and family he loved. Through it all, he continued making memories with the people who mattered most to him.
Some of Carl's happiest moments were also some of the simplest. He loved firing up the grill for a barbecue, going deep sea fishing, spending time outside with a cold beer, and watching football. A devoted Miami Dolphins fan, football Sundays were a familiar part of life with Carl. He treasured time spent with his family and the memories he was able to make with his children and grandchildren.
Carl shared 44 years of marriage with his wife, Maria Fairchild. Together they built a family and a lifetime of memories.
He is survived by his wife, Maria; his daughters, Leah Miller and her husband, Joseph, and Victoria Fairchild; and his grandchildren, Jaylin Roberson, Kara Roberson, Kali Rozelle, and Gunner Fairchild. He also leaves behind many other family members and friends who loved him dearly.
Carl was preceded in death by his son, Matthew Fairchild, who passed away in 2021.
Carl's family will remember him for exactly who he was: strong-willed, stubborn at times, funny, straightforward, generous, and deeply loving. You never had to wonder where you stood with Carl, and the people he loved never had to wonder whether he would be there when they needed him.
In keeping with Carl's wishes, there will be no traditional funeral service. His family will instead hold a celebration of his life filled with good food, stories, laughter, family, friends, and undoubtedly a few tears along the way.
Celebration of life will be held at Old Black Bear on October 24th, 2026 from 11am-3pm.
