IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Carol Hammega
Molmer
March 29, 1970 – May 4, 2025
Carol Lynn Hammega (Molmer), 55, of Madison, AL, passed away on May 4th, 2025, in her home. She was born March 29th, 1970, to Muriel and the late Kees Hammega in Atlanta, Georgia. Carol graduated from Alexander High School in Douglasville, GA. After graduation, she attended Jacksonville State University in Jacksonville, AL and graduated with a dual degree in early childhood and elementary education in 1994. She then went back to school for a Master's degree, also at JSU, and graduated with an early childhood education degree in 1996. She had a passion for teaching elementary school and taught many classes of Pre-K through 2nd grade throughout her 25 years of teaching. She loved teaching "little ones" and they loved her, too.
Carol loved playing clarinet and was a beloved member of the Marching Southerners during her time at JSU. She was Christian by faith and was known for her kindness, sense of humor, and her smile that would light up a room. She also enjoyed painting, music, spending time with her friends and family, and visiting the beach.
Carol is survived by her mother, Muriel Hammega of Wedowee, AL, her daughter Miranda (Nick) Thompson of Dickson, TN, her daughter Katie Cox of Madison, AL, her son Kees Cox of Madison, AL, her best friend Laura (Wayne) Reavis of Huntsville, AL, her cousin Lynn Lockwood of Vermont, her cousin Scott Vandergraaf (Sandra) of Connecticut, her cousin Jeff (Laurie) Lockwood of Maine, and many friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Kees Hammega of Wedowee, AL.
Carol was an amazing daughter, friend, and mother in her time on Earth, and she will be missed by so many! Carol did not wish to have a formal service, and instead asked that you all celebrate her life by living fully and loving those around you."
