Carol Ann Smith, 70, of Madison, Alabama, went home to her Lord and Savior in Heaven just a few short days before celebrating her 71st birthday.

Carol was born on March 28, 1955, in Illinois to Leonard and Hazel Donahoo, the second of four children. She lived a life defined by dedication, service, and a deep love for her family and friends. Those who knew Carol will remember her warm heart, strong work ethic, and the joy she found in spending time with the people she loved most.

Throughout her working years, Carol pursued many roles that allowed her to use her natural gifts as a healer, cook, and all around maker-of-things, always bringing compassion and determination to her work. She served her church families for many years, preparing weekly meals and filling various other needs. Carol sewed everything from praise and worship banners still in use to this day to much-loved costumes for innumerable recipients. All this, alongside a full career in the medical field and while raising her two girls, is no doubt her proudest achievement.

Above all, Carol treasured her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, and friend who took great joy in the time she spent with those closest to her, especially if that time gave her the opportunity to cook for them.

She is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, Patrick; two devoted daughters, Belinda and Samantha; and one caring son-in-law, Kris Brown.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Hazel Donahoo, and her brother, Leonard "Butch" Donahoo.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Carol will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, but her kindness, strength, and the many lives she touched will always be remembered.
