A Life of Love, Service and Strength

Carolyn Smith, age 76, of Huntsville, Alabama, passed away peacefully on October 12, 2025.

She is survived by her loving children: Charles (Sharon) Smith, Rodney Smith, Ray (Marysha) Smith, Kerry (Kathy) Smith, Kenneth Smith, Laquisha Smith and Kentrell Smith. She also leaves behind her beloved sister, Brenda Cordle; niece Miketa Cordle and nephew, Avery Cordle.

Carolyn's legacy continues through her many grandchildren  - Charles Johnson, Cortney Smith Eyler, Chance Smith, Cory Smith, Rodney Blackburn, Elizabeth Smith, Donte Slocum, Megan Sullivan, Deangelo Slocum, Makeda Smith,  Kissta Johnson, Taylor Smith, Ashlee Smith, Kreshundra Robinson, Miatta Rice, Nyteria Kelley and Shondalyn Smith- as well as numerous great-grandchildren who adored her deeply.

She was preceded in death by her parents, JC Cordle and Mary Elizabeth Smith, her sister Louise Cordle and her beloved grandson Kerry Robinson.

Carolyn lived a life defined by care, compassion and honesty. A nurse for over 40 years, she devoted herself to helping others both professionally and personally. She was a nurturing sister, aunt, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who opened her heart and home to everyone in need.

Though she gave endlessly, she remained unapologetically herself—strong, outspoken and real. Her wisdom, humor, and love will be forever remembered by who knew her.

An avid reader and history buff, she often found joy and laughter in the pages of a good novel- a simple pleasure that reflected her love for learning and appreciation of life's quiet.

The family will receive friends Friday, October 17th from 4:00 - 6:00 PM at Berryhill Funeral Home.
