Obituary

Celia Meza Arroyo Dunn, 87, of Huntsville, AL, passed away peacefully at home, on January 26, 2025.

Celia was born on October 22, 1937, in Ojuela, Durango, Mexico to the late Angel Meza and Maria de Jesus Arroyo.

Celia was preceded in death by her sisters Berta L. de Carlos and Angela L. de Soto.

Celia is survived by two daughters, Arlene Dunn Romanczuk (Glenn) and Gwendolyn Hazel Thomas (Eric), two grandchildren, Brendan Romanczuk and Taylor Romanczuk, and one great-grandchild, Pheobe Romanczuk. Celia is also survived by her sister Elisa Trow of El Paso, TX, and numerous cherished nieces and nephews.

Celia graduated from Calhoun Community College as a Registered Nurse. After a long career in nursing, Celia retired in 2005. Celia's first career in Mexico followed her graduation from Escuala Normal. She became a school teacher and administrator before coming to the United States.

Celia enjoyed traveling to her beloved Mexico and enjoyed multiple opportunities to explore Greece, Portugal, Spain, and other wonderful locations.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 30, 2025, at Berryhill Funeral Home from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.  A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm at Gatlin Cemetery in Ardmore, Alabama, with Father Joseph Lubrano officiating.

Berryhill Funeral Home is assisting the family.
