Chandra "Chandy" Ailene Hovis, born July 2, 1973, died in her home on May 24, 2025. She is survived by her daughter Zoë Rhodes (Sean Bartley); mother Charmaine Hovis; brother Justin Hovis; sisters Jaime Akridge (Jayson) and Codi Hummel (Justin); granddaughter Kaylee Bartley; nephews Drew McNeese (Mary), Ty Hovis, Gage McNeese, and Brodie Hummel; nieces, Harper Hummel and Alex McNeese. She is preceded in death by her father Jimmy Hovis and brother Joshua Hovis.

Her unique outlook on life allowed her to truly see the joy in the simple things of life such as gardening, drinking coffee, and listening to Bob Dylan. She was free-spirited in every sense of the word, going with the flow of wherever life took her. A talented hair artist, Chandy was known not only for her exceptional hair styling skills, but also for how she connected with each client personally. Chandy's proudest role was being a mother to her daughter, Zoë. Their bond was extraordinary — a friendship rooted in trust, silliness, and a love so bright; it radiated from them in every room. Chandy poured her creativity, humor, and courage into motherhood, raising not just a daughter, but a confidante and kindred spirit. She leaves behind a trail of color in a world that can so often feel gray. Her spirit will live on in every bold fashion choice, every act of kindness, and every moment of uninhibited laughter.

The family will receive friends Thursday, May 29th from 3:00 - 4:00 PM at Berryhill Funeral Home, followed by memorial service at 4:00.
