Charles (Charlie) Alton King, 94, passed away peacefully on November 23, 2025.

Charlie was born September 9, 1931 in Huntsville, Alabama to Alton and Alberta King.

Charlie was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who found great joy in caring for his family and supporting them in every chapter of their lives. Early in his career, he worked at the Russell Erskine Hotel before beginning what became the bulk of his professional life at NASA. After retiring, he enjoyed driving for Ray Pearman Lincoln Mercury and cherished the friendships he made there. Charlie faithfully served his church family as Chairman of the Deacons at University Baptist Church, where he and Trudy were active members for many years. In more recent years, they attended Willowbrook Baptist Church.  In his free time, nothing made him happier than cheering on his grandchildren and great-grandchildren in their sports and activities.

Charlie is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 74 years, Trudy Anderson King. He is survived by his children, Joe A. King (Linda) and Susan K. Hawkins (Ben); his three wonderful grandchildren, Joe A. King Jr. (Bethany), Wesley W. King, and Amy L. Robinson; and his four precious great-grandchildren, Mary Foster King, Betsy King, Allie King, and Charlie King.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 am on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, with the funeral service at 11:00 am at Berryhill Funeral Home (2305 N. Memorial Parkway, Huntsville, AL 35810). Burial will follow immediately at Maple Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
