Charles Steven Watts, 77, passed away at home in Harvest, Alabama, on August 29, 2026. He was born on April 26, 1949, in St. Louis, Missouri.

Charles lived a life marked by service, dedication, and quiet enjoyment of the things he loved most. He served his country faithfully for 20 years in the United States Army before retiring, a chapter of his life that reflected his commitment and strength. Following his military career, he continued his work as a defense contractor for a few different companies, including SAIC for 15 years before retiring once again. Through both callings, he gave of himself with steadiness and purpose.

Outside of his work, Charles found happiness in simple and familiar pleasures. He enjoyed going to the rifle range, reading, and playing computer games. These interests brought him relaxation and enjoyment and were part of the everyday life he built and cherished.

Above all, Charles will be remembered by those who knew and loved him best. He is survived by his wife, Ann Watts; his daughters, Michele Vogt and Debbie Vaughan, and Debbie’s husband, Brandon; his grandchildren, Meredith Vaughan, Tyler Patterson, Audrey Vaughan, and Anna Patterson; and his brothers, Michael Watts and his wife, Nancy, and Scott Watts. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Opel Watts.

Charles leaves behind the memory of a life of service, devotion to family, and the quiet joys that made him who he was. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the blessing of knowing him.
