Charlotte Ann Rutherford, age 86, of Huntsville, Alabama, passed away peacefully on February 9, 2026, with her beloved husband by her side.

Born on December 27, 1939, in Evansville, Indiana, to Charles Rupert Wetzel and Mary Wetzel, Charlotte carried throughout her life the values of devotion, strength, and deep love for family instilled in her from an early age. Her parents preceded her in death.

For 63 beautiful years, Charlotte was the devoted wife of Joe Rutherford. Their marriage was a true partnership built on love, loyalty, and shared memories that spanned more than six decades. Together they built a family that became the center of her world.

Charlotte found joy in life's simple treasures. She loved to read and could often be found with a good book in hand. She delighted in gardening and enjoyed traveling and making memories, but nothing brought her more happiness than time spent with her family. She especially treasured making memories with her grandchildren — sharing special projects, baking treats, playing games, and creating moments of laughter and love that will remain with them always.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Joe Rutherford; her son, Kevin Rutherford and his wife, Beti Leyew Alemu; and her grandsons, CJ and Mason Rutherford. She is also survived by her daughter, Terri Rutherford Edger and her husband, Tim Edger; and her granddaughters, Riley and Cameron Edger. She leaves behind her brother, David Wetzel and his wife, Linda Wetzel; and her sister, Kathy Durfee and her husband, Steve Durfee, along with many extended family members and friends who will miss her dearly.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Berryhill Funeral Home. A graveside service for family will follow at Huntsville Memory Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the ALS Foundation to help find a cure for this terrible disease.

She will be forever loved and deeply missed.
