IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Cherrye Tate
Jackson
September 18, 1940 – March 26, 2025
Cherrye Tate Jackson, 84, passed away peacefully early Wednesday, March 26, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and unforgettable memories. She was born on September 18, 1940, in Hazel Green, Alabama, to Leemon Tate and Ada Brown Tate. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 50 years, Anthony Wayne Jackson, Sr., and her brother, Max Tate.
Cherrye is survived by her two sons, Tony Jackson and Brent Jackson (and his fiancée, Trinda Harris); her granddaughters, April Jackson and Ashley Jackson, whom she helped raise; April's husband, Jerry Pennington; and her great-grandson, Jacob Alexander.
A proud graduate of Hazel Green High School, Cherrye was known for her big personality and fierce spirit. She spent over 20 years as a dedicated social services secretary with Agape of North Alabama, touching many lives through her work.
Cherrye had a passion for adventure, especially when it involved NASCAR weekends at Talladega, where she loved camping out with friends. She also enjoyed fishing and camping—though she made sure to do it in a camper. She loved college football and never missed a chance to cheer on her favorite teams. Whether it was the ocean, a lake, or a quiet riverside, she found peace and happiness being near the water.
Above all, she loved her family deeply and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her presence was larger than life, and her absence will be felt just as deeply. She will be profoundly missed by all who knew and loved her.
A service to celebrate Cherrye's life will be held at Berryhill Funeral Home on Saturday, March 29, 2025. Visitation will be from 12:30 – 2:00 p.m., with the funeral immediately following. Interment will be held at Concord Presbyterian Church, New Market, AL.
