Clayton Douglas O’Dell, of Woodville Alabama, went home to the Lord on April 30, 2026, surrounded by close friends and family.

Born on July 20, 1966 in St. Charles, Illinois, Clayton was the youngest of five children. He had a wild streak and was always looking for a good party, but he was a loyal friend to all with a heart of gold. Clayton attended Wyotech in Wyoming and was a highly skilled diesel mechanic. He enjoyed sailing, riding motorcycles, and the Chicago White Sox. Clayton had a love for music, whether talking, playing, or listening. Some favorites include Pantera and Black Sabbath. What Clayton enjoyed most, however, was quality time with his family and many friends. He was a devoted son, brother, uncle, father and grandfather.

Clayton is preceded in death by his father, Norman “Larry” O’Dell, mother Sheila O’Dell, brothers Martin and Joe O’Dell, girlfriends Kelly Vogel and Cori Anderson, granddaughter Penelope McKibben, and many wonderful friends.

He is survived by his daughter, Cassidy O’Dell (Cory McKibben), granddaughter Violet McKibben, step-daughter Jessica Vogel, step-grandson Hunter Vogel, brother Owen O’Dell, sister Julie Frerichs, nephews Emmanuel Burger (Christina Burger), Dustin O’Dell (Whitney Dean), Norman O’Dell, nieces Stephanie O’Dell, Autumn Gilchrist (Allen Gilchrist), Patricia O’Dell, Theresa O’Dell (Michael Brooks), Sheila Frerichs, great-nephews Neomiah Burger, Austin Gilchrist, Jason Gilchrist, Cole Chada, Leo Frerichs, Waylon Brooks, Wyatt Brooks, and great-nieces Eden Burger, Emma O’Dell, Tessa O’Dell, Macey O’Dell, and Annalise Gilchrist.

In true Clayton style, a party will be thrown in his honor in his hometown of Valley View, Illinois, on July 11, 2026. May he fly high with the angels.
