Obituary

Curtis was born to Robert Wayne and Billie Hill in Huntsville, Alabama on May 20, 1954. He grew up in Huntsville and was involved in a variety of youth sports in Huntsville and Harvest. He graduated from Madison Academy in 1972, and there he met his high school sweetheart, Kaye Carmack. He and Kaye were married on May 31, 1975, and recently celebrated their 50th anniversary. Curtis loved playing football, basketball, and baseball for  Madison Academy. He graduated from the University of Alabama in Huntsville with a degree in chemical engineering. During and after college, he worked at GTE, as a materials engineer and manager. He went on to work for many years at KBM as the Vice President of Manufacturing. In 2012, he began a new phase of his career as a contracted engineer for NASA. He took much pride and joy in his multiple projects and collaborations with many universities and various NASA centers across the country. He was a subject matter expert for In Space Manufacturing and also involved in semiconductor research.

Curtis and Kaye had three children, Allison, Ashley, and Nathan. They all attended school at Madison Academy, where he served as a board member for 21 years. He enjoyed countless hours of supporting his children in sports and other activities. He was very dedicated to Chase Park Church of Christ (formerly Memorial Parkway), serving as an elder 23 years. He spent many hours visiting members, teaching Bible classes, and traveling on mission trips. Curtis passed from this life very suddenly but peacefully and went to glory on Friday, June 20, 2025. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Wayne Hill and Billie Jean Fann Hill, and his half brother, Jack Hill. He is survived by his sister, Cindy Evans, and brother, Joe Hill; his wife, Kaye; his daughters: Allison Kizer (Barton) and Ashley Crowe (Charlie); his son, Nathan Hill (Melissa); and ten grandchildren: Cole, Celia, Elias, & Alba Kizer, Dottie, Sybil, & Otis Crowe, and Mia, Evie, & Rosalee Hill.

Curtis will be deeply missed, but his legacy will forever be remembered through the lives he touched. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 24, at Chase Park Church of Christ in Huntsville, Alabama, from 1-3pm, with a service immediately following at 3 pm. Interment will take place at Valley View Cemetary in Meridianville, Alabama. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Madison Academy or to the missions fund at Chase Park Church of Christ.
