David Michael Cady passed away on April 23, 2025, after a long struggle with brain cancer in Hickory, North Carolina.

He was 52, born on May 10, 1972, in Huntsville, Alabama, where he was  raised and attended Chapman Elementary School and then graduated from  Lee High School in 1991. He received his BS degree from Auburn University,  majoring in Mechanical Engineering, and his MS degree in Engineering  Management from the University of North Carolina, Charlotte.  He moved to  Hickory, NC in 2002 where he began his 23-year career with CommScope  Manufacturing Company, rising to the level of a Senior Program Manager.   After a few years in Hickory, he met and married his former wife of 16 years,  Lora Howell Cady. His unwavering devotion as a father will live on forever in  the heart of his son, Alexander Ryan Cady. His curious, adventurous, and  courageous character will always be remembered by his mother and father,  Barbara and John Cady, his sister Rebecca Gene Cady Gallant, and his many  relatives and friends living in and around Huntsville, Alabama.

Service will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, May 5, 2025 at Epworth  United Methodist Church with the Rev.'s Jeff Moore and Sherill Clontz (District Superintendent for the North District of the North Alabama Conference)  officiating, 2102 Epworth Dr., Huntsville, Alabama 35811. The family will  receive friends an hour prior to the service. A graveside service and burial  will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery.

A celebration of life was previously held in Hickory, NC.

The family wishes to express its sincere gratitude to Dr. Christopher Geertz & Dr. Rachael Curtis Geertz for their wise counsel and generous support of  David and his family, especially during his four-year struggle with surgeries,  radiation, and chemotherapy treatments. We thank Hugh & Barbara Appling  for their steadfast neighborly love and support of David, the likes of which we have never seen before.  And, we thank David's partner, Ms. Julieta Repalda,  for her unfailing love, care, and devotion to David, which continued until the  end and beyond.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Duke Cancer Center in  Durham, Carolina Caring (Hospice) in Hickory, St. Lukes UMC in Hickory, or  Epworth UMC in Huntsville, Alabama. ​
