David Joseph Cassady, 51, of Huntsville passed away Tuesday.

Born in Michigan, David was the youngest of 9 children. He moved to Alabama with his family as a toddler and graduated from Johnson High School in 1989. He followed in his brothers' footsteps in their love for sports. He became an outstanding athlete, excelling in both basketball and football. He continued to the collegiate level in basketball, fulfilling a life-long dream. As he got older, his hobbies included golfing, watching the Alabama Crimson Tide on Saturdays, and spending time with family and friends. He never met a stranger and would have you laughing within minutes. To no one's surprise, David's children, Chase and Bailey, were his pride and joy; he enjoyed sharing their latest accomplishments and activities with his loved ones. David will always be remembered for his humor, kindness, and undeniable fun-loving spirit.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin Lee Sr. and Rita Cassady; sister, Patty Jo Cassady Quaile (survived by Bob Quaile); brother, Danny Cassady (survived by Sheila Cassady Ferguson); nephews, Johnny Cassady and Kevin Cassady Jr.; and mother of his children, Angie Cassady.

Survivors include his children, Chase and Bailey Cassady; sisters, Susie McConnell (Steve), Debbie Cassady, Judy Conine (Steve), and Michele Yother; brothers, Butch Cassady (Teresa), and Kevin Cassady (Susan); and many extended family members and friends.

The family would like to extend a special "THANK YOU" to the staff at Huntsville Hospital for their considerate care in David's last days.

Visitation will be held at Berryhill Funeral Home on Monday, April 10 from 5-8 p.m. Mass will be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church on Tuesday, April 11 at 11:30.
