In Loving Memory of David L. Harris
November 2, 1958 – June 18, 2026
With deep love and profound sadness, we announce the passing of David L. Harris, whose life was defined by love, generosity, strength, and unwavering devotion to those he cherished.
David embraced life with an open heart and a joyful spirit. He found his greatest happiness in the people he loved; his devoted wife, his children, his beloved grandchildren who lovingly called him “Papa/Pop,” and many family and friends who were blessed to know him.
David was a wonderful husband, a proud and loving father, and an extraordinary Papa. He was the steady foundation of his family, always offering wisdom, encouragement, and unconditional love. His greatest legacy lives on in the values he instilled, the memories he created, and the countless lives he touched.
For more than 50 years, David dedicated his career to the road and site construction industry. He earned the respect of coworkers, customers, and friends through his strong work ethic, vast knowledge, and willingness to help others. His commitment to his profession was matched only by his dedication to the people he worked alongside throughout his career.
To many, David was more than a friend, he was a mentor. He had a remarkable ability to guide others with patience, humility, and genuine care. Whether offering advice, lending a helping hand, or simply listening, David made everyone feel valued and supported. His kindness and integrity earned him the love and respect of all who knew him.
David had a passion for life. He treasured time spent with family and friends, celebrated life’s simple joys, and believed that the greatest wealth came from the relationships we build. His laughter, compassion, and generous spirit will be deeply missed but forever remembered.
Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing that David’s legacy of love, faith, strength, and selflessness will continue through the family he adored and the many lives he inspired.
Proceeded in death by his father, Grady Harris. He leaves behind his devoted wife, Susan Harris; his loving mother, Ruby Southard; his four daughters, Brittany Honea (Corey), Tiffany Burgess (Keith), Amy Williams, and Ashley Steelman; his six beloved grandchildren, Weston Steelman, Gavin Steelman (Morgan), Dylan Steelman (Lilly), Colton Burgess, Wyatt Honea, and Peyton Honea; his two great-grandchildren, Lennox Steelman, Avery Steelman; his two sisters, Brenda Wilks and Michelle Lamb; his brother, Roger Harris (Anita); and countless extended family members and friends who will forever cherish his memory.
David’s life was a beautiful example of what it means to love deeply, live honorably, and give generously. He will be missed beyond words and loved beyond measure.
Visitation will be at Berryhill Funeral Home on Monday, June 22, 2026 from 11:00am - 2:00pm. Chapel Service will be held at 2:00pm, with burial to follow at Gurley Cemetery.
