Obituary

David Richard Junghans II, 34, of Madison, passed away Friday, January 2nd.

He was born April 14, 1991 in Huntsville, Alabama to David Richard Junghans and Kimberly Louise Junghans.

From the beginning, all who knew David were in awe of his mind. His curiosity, intelligence, and wit made him a unique and irreplaceable friend, brother, and son. He was born with the urge to learn and gather knowledge, wanting to understand how things work and he took great joy in sharing that with others. Paired with a sense of adventure, he found himself with a wide range of interests and hobbies. He enjoyed flying with his father, racing, paragliding, riding motorcycles, camping and travel. He lived his life to the fullest, consuming everything it had to offer. Above all, those closest to David knew him as a kind, caring, and thoughtful presence, fiercely loyal to the people in his life.

After graduating from Bob Jones High School in 2008, he went on to study Engineering at Auburn University and later the University of Alabama in Huntsville. Since 2015, he worked for Spectrum Solutions as a Software Developer where he remained until his passing. He travelled extensively for work, making friends all over the country who cherished his knowledge and humor. He was an invaluable team member who earned respect and admiration by simply being who he was - the smartest guy in the room with a humble and kind attitude.

He is survived by his father, David Richard Junghans; sister, Kristina Marie Junghans; step-mother, Lynne Meyer-Junghans; step-sister, Joy Elizabeth Murch; step-brothers Jackson Calhoun and James William Graham; and a host of grand-parents, aunts, uncles, and cousins who loved him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Kimberly Louise Junghans and grand-parents, Patricia Marie Doty, John Philip Doty, William David Junghans, David Leroy Tucker, and Peggy Jean Love.

The family will be receiving all who knew and loved David at Berryhill Funeral Home for visitation on Tuesday, January 6th from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and memorial service on Wednesday, January 7th, at 2 p.m; private burial to follow.
