IN LOVING MEMORY OF
David John
Neely
May 1, 1942 – January 14, 2026
David John Neely, 83, of Hazel Green, passed away on Wednesday, January 14, 2026.
David is survived by his wife of 60 years, Dee Anna Neely. He is also survived by his daughters, Deirdre Nicole Close and Dereka Justine Addis, son-in-law CJ Addis and four grandchildren, Samuel Close, Zachary Close, Ethan Addis and Justine Addis.
David held many different titles throughout his life, but the most important title he ever held was "Child of God." His relationship with the Lord was something that he shared openly with friends, neighbors, colleagues and throughout various ministries, such as Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Kairos Prison Ministry, and Mount Hermon Camp and Conference Center. He and his wife Dee served together in the local church wherever they lived. David had an incredible sense of humor. He was a gifted musician and singer as well. He was also a creative individual which he used in both his personal and vocational life. He loved to read and was an amazing writer, sharing insights about his own personal walk with Christ (Dave's Cave), trying to inspire and encourage others to stay the course. Instead of retiring, he and his wife Dee felt led to serve in a ministry for several years called Crown Financial Ministries, striving to help people live in financial freedom. Looking back on David's life it is clear that God used him in so many ways to help bring others into a deeper relationship with Christ. He will be greatly missed, but his family knows that he is home and worshipping with the One in whom he adored and the One in whom he praised throughout his life...Jesus Christ.
We encourage others who knew David or whose lives were touched by his to share your personal stories as a tribute to him.
No services are planned at this time. Berryhill Funeral Home assisted the family.
