David Irvin
Seymour
May 21, 1931 — Jul 2, 2026
Tuesday
Bedford County Memorial Park
David Irvin Seymour, 95, went to be with the Lord on July 2, 2026.
He was born in Ore Hill, rural Roaring Spring, son of the late Irvin H. and Mabel G. (Holsinger) Seymour. He was the beloved husband of Marguerite A. McGraw, married for over 55 years, and preceded him in death on March 17, 2007.
Loving father of surviving children, David J Seymour (Brenda), Ray I. Seymour, Victoria M. Redfern (Nick), and late infant son Steven Michael Seymour; Grandchildren, Kate McNeil, Jonathan Seymour, Houston Bryant, LT2 Joseph Redfern, and Joshua Redfern.
He is preceded by his sisters, Sylvia McElroy, Florence Dibert, and Betty Imler.
He graduated from Claysburg High School in 1949 in PA and joined the Navy in 1950. He served during the Korean War as a welder/pipe fitter on the USS General Butner. He was extremely proud of his service, attended many Navy reunions, and was a lifelong member of the American Legion.
He was also strong in his faith, being a lifelong member of the Assembly of God churches (Silver Spring, MD, and Huntsville, AL). He loved his church family and the old hymns.
He was a talented poet (wrote beautiful personal poems for all occasions), loved the water, his family, and friends. Up until the age of 90, he drove from AL to PA, visiting friends on the way, every summer. He enjoyed driving so much that he took a NASCAR driver's course in his 80s and went cross-country truck driving when he could, with his son.
He leaves behind a legacy of love and will be dearly missed.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at Bedford County Memorial Park in Bedford, Pennsylvania. In Lieu of flowers donation links are below.
