Obituary

Diane Boehm Ferguson, "Aunt Diane" of  Huntsville, Alabama, age 81, passed away on Monday, July 14, 2025, at her residence, among loving family. She was born on January 11, 1944, in Yonkers, New York. Diane was the daughter of the late Franz Xavier Boehm and Marguerite Abbott Boehm. She grew up in Fort Pierce, Florida, and after high school, she went to college in New Orleans, Louisiana. Diane went on to obtain degrees from Tulane and Loyola Universities, including an MBA.  Her career took her into the rewarding field in Medical Sciences, where she spent many years doing research.

Diane spent all of her adult life living in and enjoying the culture of New Orleans, Louisiana.  Aunt Diane had a zest for life and all that it offered.  She often took trips, both local and abroad, with her many friends and family.  She was an avid sailor in her younger years and spent many hours at the New Orleans Yacht Club.  She loved the Mardi Gras season and enjoyed being in and watching the Mardi Gras parades. Diane was a member of the Krewe of Isis for many years. Diane was also a huge fan of the New Orleans Saints.  She enjoyed a taste of excellent cuisine at fine dining establishments as well as local New Orleans dives.

We will especially miss Aunt Diane around the holidays. Family time spent enjoying turkey, pizza, prime rib, and board games will never be forgotten.

Aunt Diane is preceded in death by her parents and beloved sister, Gretchen. She is survived by her four nephews, Michael Jr., Kevin, Patrick, Brian, and her "favorite niece", Lisa. She is also survived by three generations of nieces and nephews. Aunt Diane will be dearly missed by the ones she left behind, including her fur baby, Babette (Baby).

A funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 2300 Beasley Avenue, Huntsville, Alabama.  A celebration of Diane's life with some of her favorite foods will be held at Kevin and Amy's home after the funeral mass. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Aunt Diane's name to Breast Cancer research or Parkinson's Disease research of your choice.

No services are planned at this time. Berryhill Funeral Home assisted the family.
