Obituary

We gather here today to honor and celebrate the life of Doris "Mama Jean" Eldridge, a woman whose heart was as big as her love for family. At 73 years old, she passed away on March 13, 2025, in Hazel Green, Alabama, surrounded by those she cherished most. Born on October 17, 1951, in Pineville, Kentucky, to Floyd and Sadie Pillion, Mama Jean filled every moment of her life with warmth, joy, and unwavering devotion.

She had a passion for life's simple pleasures—never missing a wrestling match, delighting in the music of Conway Twitty, and staying up to date on court TV shows. But above all, her greatest love was her family. She poured her heart into every moment spent with them, creating memories that will be treasured forever. Her beloved Golden Retriever, Saban, held a special place in her heart, a faithful companion in life's journey.

Mama Jean's kindness, humor, and unconditional love touched all who knew her. Her legacy lives on through her children: Lavada Mason, Tammy Mathews (Chris), Anthony Eldridge (Tracie), Derrick Eldridge (Anita), and Alaina Lemley (Daniel Ransom) and her siblings Carol, Mike, and Charles. She was also blessed with eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren who brought her immense joy.

She is now reunited with those who went before her—her parents, Floyd and Sadie Pillion; two sisters; three brothers; and her precious granddaughter and grandson. Though we grieve her loss, we find comfort in knowing she is at peace, watching over us with the same love she always shared.

Mama Jean's laughter, love, and strong spirit will forever be in our hearts. Today, we do not just say goodbye; we celebrate a life well-lived and a love that will never fade.

My Miracle my Mother

Mom, I look at you and see a walking miracle
Your unfailing love without limit,
Your ability to soothe my every hurt.
The way you are on duty, unselfishly, every hour, every day.
Makes me so grateful that I'm yours and you are mine.
With open arms and open heart,
With enduring patience and inner strength,
You gave so much for me
Sometimes at your expense.
You are my Teacher,
My comforter, my encourager,
Appreciating all, forgiving all.
Sometimes I took you for granted, mom
But I don't now, and I never will again.
I know that everything I am today relates to you and your loving care.
I gaze in wonder
As I watch you being you-
My miracle, my Mother
