Obituary

Doris Wiley Walls was born on the 29th day of June 1942 to Edward and Emma Wiley. Doris' Dad (Edward) was born in Rochester, New York. Edward's mom passed away when he was about 5 years old and he was raised by foster parents in Milford, Delaware. Growing up in Milford, Doris was raised going to the little white church known as Pilgrim Holiness Church. She went to church all her young life believing there were good people in all churches. When she went into church one Sunday morning, just as she always did, while heading to Sunday School a voice spoke to her that said "There is more for you." This thought never left her.

Doris met the love of her life, Wheeler Walls, in 1961. They were made "as one", 50/50 which made one whole is what they always said. Where one was the other was always near.

Wheeler and Doris started their lives together moving to wherever the Air Force sent them. In 1972, they retired from the Air Force and moved back to Wheeler's home in Alabama. Never once in the 11 plus years did Wheeler mention the Holy Ghost. Doris began watching Wheeler's Holiness family on Gunters Mtn. The family never talked to her about church thinking that she "would not have it". Little did they know she was watching and listening. Doris heard them one time telling Wheeler what to do to receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. She thought "why don't he just do what they say to do?" Doris then remembered that time when she was a young girl and at the church in Delaware when a voice spoke to her that there was more for her. It was then that she realized the Holy Ghost was that "more for you". She received salvation on Tuesday, July 15, 1975 at Gunters Mtn. She had never even seen someone receive the Holy Ghost. Wheeler then received that same salvation on Nov. 29, 1975.

Soon, they made their home in Big Cove and were members of Big Cove Holiness church for over 45 years. They lived their lives together for nearly 60 years.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, August 7th, from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at Big Cove Holiness Church. A graveside service will be held the following morning on Thursday, August 8th, at 5:45 A.M. at Green Valley Cemetery. Rev. Mark Warren and Rev. Josh Trotman will be officiating.
