Douglas Allan
Tucker
April 13, 1958 – April 3, 2026
Douglas Allan Tucker, age 67, passed away at his home in Hayden, Alabama, on Good Friday, April 3, 2026, surrounded by family and in the home that he loved. Allan was the firstborn of Bobby Lawrence Tucker and Mary Elizabeth (Betty) Gray Tucker. He was born in Birmingham, Alabama. Allan’s grandparents were Hollie and Emma Irene Rainey Tucker. Fond memories of fishing with his grandfather were always told, especially about Allan winning a fishing tournament and getting his photo in the newspaper. As a teenager, Allan and his father enjoyed the sport of motocross racing and spent weekends taking Allan to competitions across the state of Alabama.
Mr. Bobby Tucker was a broker, and this interest in the trucking industry began a desire within Allan that led to him getting a P&D route with Roadway in Birmingham. Soon, Allan moved up to linehaul routes as the company evolved into FedEx Ground. The first year was 1994, and there were struggles of beginning a new business and finding drivers, etc. However, Allan was driven, and this work brought him strength, pleasure, and frustration. He was given many awards and certificates that documented his efforts were fruitful. For example, he earned the 20-year safe driving award and was honored in 2013 with an award and dinner to celebrate being named Entrepreneur of the Year.
His time with FedEx provided lifelong friendships with managers, drivers, various vendors, and commercial dealerships. Their relationships helped make his company successful. Allan’s attention to detail made him a force to be reckoned with if you ask a driver who was thrown out of the driver’s seat as Allan took over the load. Allan had a knack for connecting with certain people, and those friends were more like brothers, sons, or family to him.
These last few years, Allan saw miracles that included surviving prostate cancer, skin cancer, and chronic pain in his back and knees. Blessings of family and a circle of love were the greatest gifts that he received during his lifetime.
