IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Elizabeth Lorene
Hillis
December 31, 1983 – March 20, 2026
Elizabeth (Libby) Hillis left our world on March 20, 2026. Those of us here miss everything about her.
Libby never met a stranger and could charm a fence post into conversation. Her pride and joy in life were her sons Jack (12) and Henry (10). All that she did, she did for them. She was the ultimate mom, who could lay down a mean sourdough bread before lunch and then take the boys hunting or fishing.
Libby graduated from Auburn (War Eagle!), had her Master's, and worked at Redstone Arsenal. She had endless curiosity, great taste, and an encyclopedic knowledge of Thoroughbred race horses. Among friends, she was known as an excellent horsewoman in every respect. Among an assortment of 4-legged furry critters, she was known as a superb supplier of treats.
Libby will be remembered by all as beautiful in every way. She gave more to others than she ever asked in return. We should all be so lucky as to know someone like Libby. We will hold her in our hearts always.
She is survived by her husband, Caine Hillis, sons Jack and Henry Hillis, mother, Trenda Dempsey, sister, Deanna Cagle, and nephew, Carson Cagle. She was preceded in death by her father, Bobby Dempsey, surviving in-laws Bobby and Pam Hillis, Casey Beach, and niece Mailey Beach.
Memorial donations in her name can be made to your favorite charity.
Visitation will be from 4-6 pm on Tuesday, March 24, 2026 at Berryhill Funeral Home in Huntsville. Graveside services will be private for the family
