Ellen Richene Cook Sims, 82, of Huntsville, passed away peacefully at home on January 4, 2026.

Ellen was born on December 13, 1943, to Richard Herbert Cook and Catharine Kefauver Cook. Following her father's passing, she was blessed with a loving stepfather, Willard Romans. She married her beloved husband, David Glenn Sims, on July 21, 1962, and they shared a devoted life together until his passing on September 3, 2023.

Ellen is survived by her sons, Brian Sims (Suzanne), Doug Sims, and Michael Sims (Karen); grandchildren, Lindsay Sims, Andrew Sims (Ashley), Molly Sims, and Evan Sims; great-grandchildren, Ruth Sims, Jack Sims, and John Sims; and dearly loved Shih Tzu, Abby.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her stepfather; and infant grandson, Ryan Timothy Sims.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery, Athens. No services are planned at this time.
