Frances “Marie” Hovis, 91 of Harvest passed away on Saturday May 16, 2026 with her family at her bedside. She was a resident of Harvest since 1957. She was the cafeteria manager at Sparkman High School for over 10 years,

Mrs. Hovis is survived by her son, Larry McElyea (Carolyn), daughters, Angie Hovis and Jeana Hovis McDonald; grandchildren Jenna McDonald Whynot (Carson) and Tyler McDonald; nieces Jamie Naple (Danny) and Lisa McIllwain.

Marie is preceded by her husband, James “Buddy” Hovis, parents, James “Floyd” and Jennie “Frances” Cunningham; sisters, Norene Hillis and Patricia Cunningham.

Marie is remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She is remembered by her warmth, kindness and love for everyone. She devoted her life to her children and grandchildren. Her love of God was shown everyday. She was a woman of faith and believed in the power of prayer. She was always asking for people to pray for her and she prayed for them. She will be deeply missed.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 22, 2026, at Berryhill Funeral Home from 12:00 to 2:00 pm, immediately followed by funeral service in the chapel at 2:00 pm with Bro. Jerry Hovis and Bro. Floyd Henderson officiating. Interment will follow at Green Valley Cemetery, Big Cove, Al.
