Gabriele R. (Gaby) Phillips, 52, of Huntsville, died November 9, 2013 at Huntsville Hospital after a long battle with diabetes. She was born in Idaroberstein, Germany on April 28, 1961 and later moved to Huntsville where she graduated from Grissom High School in 1979.

She was the beloved wife of Steve Phillips, who preceded her in death on September 11, 2013. They were married on August 22, 1981. A mom above all, Gaby's daughters were her everything. She worked for Publix for several years. Her adopted father Bill Ray preceded her in death as did her father-in-law Dick Phillips.

She is survived by daughters Ashley and Jordan of Huntsville; her best friend and sister Meg Kay of Huntsville; sisters Brenda of Santa Monica, CA and Sherry of Nashville; brother Greg Ray of Huntsville; brother-in-law Tommy Kay; her birth mother Irene Walslaben; and her adopted mother Kay Ray of Huntsville.

She also is survived by her mother-in-law Mary Lue Phillips of Harvest; sisters-in-law Debbie Phillips (Rob Berkley) of Martha's Vineyard, MA; Lori Phillips Gagnon of Orlando, FL; and Susan Henson (Joe) of Huntsville; brother-in-law Scott (Dianne) Phillips of Harvest; and several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life gathering for family and friends to honor Steve and Gaby will be 2-4PM Sunday, November 24, 2013 in Murray Hall at Huntsville Botanical Garden, 4747 Bob Wallace Avenue. Donations may be made to the American Organ Transplant Association. Gaby was a transplant recipient and donor. Berryhill Funeral Home is assisting the family.
