Garland Briggs Ryan, 84, of Huntsville, Alabama, passed away on Wednesday, May 6, 2026.

Garland is survived by his wife, Judy Ryan; son, Derek Ryan; daughter, Allyson Redinger; six grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.  

He is preceded by his parents, Elmer and Evelyn Ryan; siblings, Patricia Leah Helton and Stanley Joseph Ryan.  

Garland was a 1960 graduate of Butler High School.  After high school, he continued his education and graduated from University of North Alabama, formally known as Florence State. Garland also served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Intrepid. He was an avid sports fan and a huge supporter of Auburn University.  Most of all, he loved his lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
