George Charles
Nobles, Jr.
July 14, 1951 – April 29, 2026
Maj. George Charles Nobles passed away peacefully at Hospice Family Care with his son Christopher by his side on Wednesday, April 29th, 2026.
George was born in Wellsboro, PA, to George Nobles Sr. and Mary Nobles on July 14th, 1951. He grew up in Wellsboro, graduating from Wellsboro High School, class of 1969. After graduation, he went on to his appointment at the United States Military Academy at West Point, where he graduated in 1973 with a Bachelor of Science. Following his graduation from West Point, he went on to serve in the U.S. Army with a lengthy and distinguished military career, moving throughout the United States with his wife, Marcie Nobles, and children, to include the 82nd Airborne, working at the Pentagon, being stationed overseas in the Panama Canal, and finally retiring from the U.S. Army Missile Command, Redstone Arsenal. During his military career, George earned two Master's degrees, one in Logistics Management and one in Business Administration. His Master Parachutist Badge, Expert Infantry Badge, Meritorious Service medal with 2nd oak leaf cluster, Bronze Star, Southwest Asia Service Medal with Bronze star-2, as well as the Kuwait Liberation medal during the Gulf War. After retiring from the U.S. Army, George proceeded to have a lengthy career in defense contracting, working for Tec-Masters, Inc., as well as KBR, before finally retiring for good.
George is preceded in death by his wife, Marcie Nobles, who passed in January of 2024.
He is survived by his four sons, Christopher, Jeremy, David, and Eric Nobles, 2 grandsons, Jacob and Kaleb Nobles, 3 granddaughters, Zoe, Jenna, and Alexis Nobles.
George will be greatly missed by his friends and family. He was a loving dad and husband and a great friend with a good sense of humor. He loved the Pittsburgh Steelers, Army-Navy football, Fishing, grilling out with family, his dogs Jake and Hatchi, as well as playing poker with all his friends at the VFW and Elks Lodge.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
