George Sheldon Wilson, Jr. passed away peacefully at home with his loving wife Dianna (Di) by his side, Sunday, April 26, 2026.
He was born in McMinnville, Tn, to George Sheldon and Sarah McCorkle Wilson, September 7, 1933. He grew up in McMinnville, graduating from Warren County high school in 1951. After graduation he enlisted in the Air Force where he learned his vocation as an air traffic controller. After discharge he joined the national guard, serving until the begging of the Cold War. While in the guards he attended Middle Tennessee State University earning a degree in business and education. He loved his job as an ATC and worked at the Nashville, Tn tower, Lexington, Ky tower and retiring from the Huntsville, Al tower. Until his last days, he never got tired of watching planes take off and land, he could not have had a job he loved more.
George was preceded in death by son David Michael Wilson and daughter Michele Colleen Wilson.
He is survived by his loving wife and soulmate Dianna Giles Corum Wilson, sons, Robert Wilson, Huntsville and George Sheldon Wilson, III (Jan), Huntsville, stepdaughter Suzanne Corum Costner, Maryville, Tn, stepson Michael Wayne Corum (Susan) Knoxville, Tn. Five granddaughters, Elizabeth Wilson (Melissa Acevado), St Pete, Fl, Christina Wilson Yates (Adam) Fultondale, Al, Amber Self (Adam) California, Amy Wilson Fincher (Robert) Huntsville, Jennifer Roberson (Griffin) Huntsville and several great grandchildren.
George will be greatly missed, he was a loving husband, soulmate, and friend with a big heart for 36 years. He was a loving father and grandfather.
He loved his Tennessee VOLS and was a season ticket holder for many years. His dream trip was to go to Ireland and was blessed to take that trip with friends. He loved golf and was able to see the Masters Golf tournament in person. He enjoyed golfing and beach trips with friends, and playing Texas Holden with his Elk buddies.

Visitation will take place on Saturday, May 2nd, from 9:30-11:00 AM at Berryhill Funeral Home, with a funeral service immediately following at 11:00 AM. A graveside service will be held at 2:30 PM at Mountain View Cemetery in McMinnville, TN.
