George Joseph
Wollin
April 16, 1944 – July 16, 2023
George Joseph Wollin, 79, of Culver City, CA passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on July 16, 2023 following a short, but fierce, battle with Lung Cancer. George was a dedicated father, son, uncle, brother, and friend.
The son of Clarence Wollin and Bertha Proctor, George grew up in the West Los Angeles area and was a graduate of St. Bernard's High School. George worked at the Santa Glen Market until its closure and then began working for Gelson's supermarket until his retirement. George led an adventurous and interesting life with many stories of his adventures with the movie stars of his time. A lover of wine, books, and history, he always had some interesting fact or story to add to any conversation. George was a Master Mason at Culver City Foshay Lodge No. 467 and Los Angeles Lodge No. 42 and a member of many other masonic bodies as well. George was well known for his unparalleled cooking and catering skills and for always being there to lend a helping hand or listen to any brother in need.
George is survived by his sisters, Mary West and Patti Martin; his children, Robert Wollin, Roderick Wollin (Heather), Richard Wollin (Jacqueline); grandson, Nicolas; nieces, Kinora Hernandez, Leona Fields (Trevor), and Mara Vaill (Dave); as well as countless friends and acquaintances all over the country.
His infectious smile, culinary masterpieces, and stories will be missed by all who know and loved him.
Service details will be announced in the near future.
