Obituary

Gerald Thomas "Tommy" Brueggeman, a man of steady character and deep devotion to his family, passed away on January 4, 2026 at the age of 72. Born on October 24, 1953 in Gulfport, Mississippi to Dalecia Joyce Guyol-Young and Gerald Hoppe Brueggeman, Tommy lived a life defined by hard work and the simple joys of a revving engine and a gathered family.

As a metal fabrication specialist, Tommy possessed the rare ability to see the potential in a raw piece of steel and shape it into something useful. His professional legacy is anchored by over 25 years of service as a machine shop manager.

Outside of the shop, Tommy enjoyed the world of automobiles. Whether he was under the hood of a classic car, watching a race, or discussing the mechanics of vehicles, he fulfilled his passion for speed and engineering.

Tommy was a devoted family man who found his greatest pride in his son, Robert (Rachel) Brueggeman, and his two grandsons. He remains a beloved son to his mother, Dalecia, and a steady presence in the lives of his siblings: his brother Martin (Theresa) Brueggeman, and his sisters Deborah (Jon) Cordell and Lynne (Charles) Tonini. He is preceded in death by his father Gerald, his step-father Dallas Young, his brother Jeff Brueggeman, his sister Teresa Watts, and his wife Terrie Brueggeman.

Tommy will be remembered for his capable hands, his quiet strength, and the enduring love he held for those closest to him. He leaves behind a legacy of integrity and a family who will forever miss his guidance and warmth.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 8th, from 5-7:00 at Berryhill Funeral Home.
