Gilford "Gil" Leonard Thompson was born on February 26, 1949, and departed this life on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, in the comfort of his home.

He was a native of Long Beach California but spent his later years in Ardmore, Alabama.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Marlane Thompson; his sons, Michael (Roseanne) Thompson, Patrick (Becky) Thompson, and Mark (Rachel) Freeman; and his daughter, Jennifer Thompson; his mother, Jacky Miller; and siblings, Michael Thompson and Kathy Miller.

Gil was a retired Sergeant First Class in the U.S. Army. He was a talented and admirable gunsmith who was loved by many people. He operated his business, Bandon Gunworks, for over forty years.

At this time, there is no memorial service planned for Gil. He requested that his ashes be scattered in the Pacific Ocean near Coos Bay, Oregon.
