Grayson Michael
Parker
September 23, 2002 – March 25, 2024
Grayson Michael Parker, 21, of Huntsville, AL was born on September 23, 2002, and died unexpectedly on March 25, 2024.
He graduated Summa Cum Laude from Virgil I. Grissom High School in 2021. He was a National Merit Commended Student, and was awarded a full tuition scholarship to the University of Alabama in Huntsville cyber-security engineering bachelor of science program. He just recently received a paid
summer 2024 internship offer from a local company, and was on the path to graduate in May, 2025. During his unfinished tenure at UAH, he was on the President's List 4/5 semesters, and on the Dean's list the other semester.
Grayson was a dedicated student-athlete throughout high school and continuing into college. He played soccer (goalkeeper) for Grissom all four years, the last two on the Varsity squad. This season he re-joined his alma mater as one of the assistant goalkeeper coaches. Grayson worked hard both on and off the field to improve his skill set and to achieve top grades. He loved Grissom soccer and the friendships that blossomed from his years there.
Outside of school and soccer, he was also actively involved at Good Shepherd Catholic church, in several youth activities. He was a youth volunteer for years with the monthly SNO program (Special Night Out), a program dedicated to giving parents of special needs children and young adults in the local community a night out. He also was a participant in the week long Catholic Heart Work Camp program for two consecutive summers.
From a young age, Grayson always put the needs of others before his own. He was kind, compassionate, sensitive, an avid reader, gamer, and a loyal friend and family member. He was a gentle soul who loved his family and friends, including the furry ones. He was also his toughest critic- no one expected more of Grayson than he expected of himself.
Grayson is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Larry and Kitty Parker (Lexington, KY), his maternal grandfather, Jim Nuss (Louisville, KY) and his uncle Keith Fawbush (LaGrange, KY). He is survived by his parents, Jackie and Scott Parker, brother Rance, sister Cadie and his grandmother Georgia Nuss, all of Huntsville, AL. He is also survived by his extended family members, including numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Visitation with the family will be held at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 13550 Chaney Thompson Rd SE, Huntsville, on Thursday, April 4th from 5-7 p.m, with eulogy and closing prayer starting at 6:30 p.m. A funeral Mass for Grayson will be held on Friday, April 5th, beginning at 10:30 a.m. at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, interment to follow immediately at the columbarium located behind the church.
