In loving memory of Herman McKinley Thompson. It is with heavy, yet joyful hearts, that we announce the passing of Herman Thompson.

He was a devoted husband to his late wife, Bertha of 62 years, father, pawpaw, a pastor, an uncle, a brother, and a friend, but most importantly, a servant of the Lord Jesus Christ.

On April 12th, he jumped into the loving arms of Jesus while surrounded by his family.

Herman is survived by his children, Herman (Babs) Thompson, Jr., John D. (Lisa) Thompson, Tim Thompson, Marie Thompson (Willis), and Larry (Cynthia) Thompson;10 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great-grandchildren; and his siblings, Earl Smith and Harold Thompson.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Bertha Mae Thompson; great-grandson, his mother, Susan Jane Flannigan; and father, William McKinley Thompson.

His greatest priority and accomplishment was serving the Lord. His relationship with Jesus started at a very young age. As a young adult, he became a pastor which led him to minister in the Church of God of Prophecies. He ministered to many churches across Alabama, Mississippi, and Tennessee. Through all his years of serving the Lord and ministering, he leaves us a lasting legacy of how to accept Jesus into our hearts so that we can live with Christ for eternity.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 19th, from 3:00-4:00 PM at Berryhill Funeral Home. A memorial service will immediately follow at 4:00 PM with Mark Williams officiating.
