Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Jack Langdale, a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, on July 9, 2026, at the age of 91. Jack departed this world at his home in the presence of his loving family and under the compassionate care of hospice. He was born on September 20, 1934, in Beatrice, Nebraska, and graced this world with his warmth and humor for nearly a century. Jack was preceded in death by his cherished wife, Geraldine, with whom he shared more than 50 wonderful years of marriage, and his beloved sons, David and Richard Langdale. He is survived by his devoted daughter, Lora Snell, and her husband, Jim. Jack's legacy also lives on through his grandchildren, Alex Snell and his wife Brooke, Emily Neubert and her husband Roby, and his great-grandson, Uriah Neubert, who brought him immense joy.

Jack dedicated 20 years of his life to serving his country with honor in the United States Air Force, where he worked as an aircraft mechanic. Following his retirement from the military, he continued to demonstrate his exceptional work ethic and dependability in the field of maintenance, a career he pursued with diligence and pride. Known for his quick wit and candid nature, Jack was a man who cherished the simple joys of life. He found delight in watching movies and documentaries about history and wartime events, often sharing captivating stories from his days in the Air Force. Jack also enjoyed the camaraderie of playing cards, especially rummy, with family and friends.

A celebration of Jack's life will be held on July 14, 2026, at 5:30 PM at Summit Crossing Community Church, located at 7200 Governors W, Huntsville, AL 35806. Family, friends, and those whose lives he touched are invited to remember Jack and share in the memories and love that he brought to our lives. Additionally, a graveside funeral will be held on Thursday, July 16th at 11:00 at Graceland Cemetery in Greenville, SC.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Daniel Englert and his staff for their unwavering kindness and care over the years. Special thanks also go to Dr. Alan McCrory and his team, the dedicated nurses from Hospice of the Valley, and Jack's compassionate caregivers Barbara, Carol, and Angela from Right at Home. Your support and love have been a great comfort during this time. Memorial contributions can be made to The Salvation Army in Jack's honor, an organization near and dear to his heart. His memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him, and his spirit will continue to inspire us to live with integrity, kindness, and humor.
