James Franklin Brazell, 85, of Huntsville, Alabama, passed away on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at his house surrounded by his immediate family after battling a long term illness.

James is survived his children, Ytonna Carol Brazell, of Huntsville, AL, and Carl Anthony "Tony" (Dawn), of New Market, AL; grandchildren, Maria Brazell, Ysidra Brazell-Fuell, and Francisca Brazell, all of New Market, AL; great-grandchildren, Franklin A. Smith and Alcario D. Smith; brother, Gene Brazell, of Huntsville, AL; along with many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded by parents, Dorda Ernest Brazell and Mary Ann Johns; siblings, Charles Brazell, Annie B. Dunson, Julia Mae Maze, Alvin Brazell, Alonzo Brazell, and Alton Brazell, and his infant son, James Franklin Brazell, Jr.

James was born in Plevna, AL, but was a life-long resident of Madison County. He served in the Army for 3 years and retired as a union brick layer after 30 years. James enjoyed tinkering in his garage, cooking, spending time with his family, and of course, Alabama football. James was a strong, stern man and had a sharp mind all the way until the end. He was loved by all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and never forgotten.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at Berryhill Funeral Home from 3:00 to 4:00 pm, with the service immediately following in the chapel at 4:00 pm.
