IN LOVING MEMORY OF
James Daniel
Ford
September 29, 1950 – March 1, 2026
James Daniel "Dan" Ford, 75, of Madison, Alabama, passed away on March 1, 2026. Dan was born on September 29, 1950, in Corsicana, Texas, the son of Byron Ford and Jean Trussell Rowe.
Dan Ford graduated from Altus High School in Altus, Oklahoma. He earned a bachelor's degree from Southwestern Oklahoma State University and a master's degree from the University of Southern California. He proudly served his country in both the United States Marine Corps and the United States Navy, retiring in 1993 at the rank of Commander. During his military career and later as a civilian, Dan worked as a hospital administrator, where he was known for his strong work ethic, steady leadership, and engaging personality.
Dan had a lifelong love of motorcycles and anything with wheels, but nothing meant more to him than his children, grandchildren, and his dogs—most recently Charley and Luna. He was a beloved member of the Patriot Guard Riders and the Eclectic Riders of North Alabama, where he formed many valued friendships. Dan was known for his quick wit and sense of humor, which he shared generously with friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Byron and Jean; his step-father, Earl Rowe; and sisters Vivian Ruth "Bibs" Ward and Patty Mae Ford. He is survived by his children, Dan (Christina) Ford Jr., Bob (Catalina) Ford, and Sarah (Stephen) Bogdanowicz; and his grandchildren, George, Josie, Leo, Calvin, Mary, and Emily.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, March 8, 2026, at 1:00 PM at American Legion Post 237, 2900 Drake Ave SW, Huntsville, AL 35805. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the charity Creating Hope for Paws, 19135 Nuclear Plant Road, Tanner, AL 35671, 256-233-4343.
