IN LOVING MEMORY OF
James "Marty"
Martin Pitts
February 20, 1968 – January 31, 2026
James "Marty" Pitts, 57, of Harvest, passed away January 31, 2026.
Born on February 20, 1968, in Huntsville, Alabama, Marty spent his life dedicated to helping his community as a firefighter for Madison Fire and Rescue for thirty-one years. Those who knew Marty will remember his life with a laugh as they think of the many adventures they had with him. He enjoyed working on cars, building, spending time with his family, camping, and fishing.
Marty lived a full life of generosity, selflessness, and loyalty to his friends and family. He never met a stranger, and he always ran into someone he knew. Marty was the laughter that filled any room with his fun-loving, easygoing personality.
Marty spent thirty years building a family that goes far beyond blood, a family that has come to share in his memory. He is survived by his wife Kathy, daughter and son-in-law Hayleigh and Shane Higginbotham, daughter Sara, son and daughter-in-law Ben and Alana Pitts, mother Delores, sister and brother-in-law Amy and Philip Gilmore, niece Katie Beth Gilmore, nephew Micah Gilmore, and wife Rachel, great nieces Lakelee, Esther, Hattie Gilmore, great nephew MJ Gilmore.
Through the wonderful marriage he had to wife Kathy, he is also survived by his mother-in-law, Sandra Upton; sister-in-law, Amy McMullen, and her daughters, Cayla Williams, Rose Williams, and Khloiey McMullen; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Travis and Brittney Upton; niece, Dacey; and nephews, Cooper, Holden, and Brock Upton.
Marty's commitment to a life of faith in his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, has blessed him to be welcomed home by his father, James Milburn Pitts, father-in-law, Herbert Clifton Upton, and his three grandchildren.
Marty has finished a race we are all called to, may he rest in the glory of the Lord.
