Obituary

James Randall Mefford, lovingly known as Randy, age 66, of Huntsville, Alabama, passed away on Wednesday, October 7, 2026.

Born on July 6, 1960, in Owens Cross Roads, Alabama, Randy was the son of Walter Houston Mefford and Mary Alene Mefford. He will be remembered as a kindhearted, generous, and loving man who had a special way of caring for the people around him. Randy was the kind of person who would give his last dollar to someone in need, never hesitating to help another person when he could. His generosity came from the heart, and his willingness to give to others was a reflection of the man he was.

Above all, Randy was someone who loved deeply and valued the people closest to him. His life was shaped by the relationships he held dear, the memories he made with his family, and the love he shared with those fortunate enough to know him. He leaves behind a family who loved him dearly and who will carry his memory with them always.

One of the most special relationships in Randy's life was the bond he shared with his brother and best friend, Tim Mefford. From childhood through adulthood, the two were practically inseparable. They grew up doing everything together, creating a lifetime of memories and a friendship that remained strong until Randy's passing. Even as adults, they spoke everyday. Their bond was more than that of brothers; they were lifelong companions who could always count on one another. The loss of Randy leaves an immeasurable emptiness, especially for a brother who shared so much of his life with him.

Randy was preceded in death by the love of his life, Dorrie Gludice; his parents, Walter Houston Mefford and Mary Alene Mefford; his sisters, Florence Mefford Gannon, Brenda Mefford, and Carrie Dix; and his brother, Billy Mefford.

He is survived by his daughter, Anna Seor; his brothers, Raymond Mefford, Calvin Mefford, Vance Mefford (Bernadean), Mike Mefford, and Timothy Mefford; and his sisters, Ann Clark, Carolyn Jones, Jane Dupree, Sherry Godsey (Mark), and Lisa Morris.

Randy will be remembered for his generous spirit, his love for his family, and the way he was always willing to lend a helping hand. The memories he shared with those closest to him will remain a lasting part of their lives.

He will be deeply missed by his family and friends and remembered with love for years to come.
